Have you done your part?

But sometimes i really wonder if all the "commercialization" of these green campaigns actually reaped any benefits.
The last i heard, the Anya bags created chaotic crowds in some parts of the world

the live aid concert created tons of trash left by the concert goers

and one of the first i heard.

An acquaintance asked if I meet my bf everyday. No
He asked if its boring to meet him everyday. No
He asked why never meet everyday. Cause I prefer to have some personal time, or ME time.

Yes. Although i admit that I need lots of attention, I need lots of ME time. Nevermind my endless bitching about my boredom or lack of activities to do, it was never about my Bf NOT meeting me.
Its all about me.

I need ME time to do things I LIKE, things that I do not need to put people's feelings into consideration, things i can lose myself in, things that has an outcome, things that can make people happy, things that i can make myself happy with.
Beside the same old routine.
I find fulfillment in lots of things around me, provided I do not lose interest in it yet.
I'm not a good multi-tasker. I prefer to seperate things out, family and bf and myself.
I allocate time for myself, for family and him.
I do not like to put them all together. I like to give full attention to ONE THING at a time.
In that way, everyone has what they wanted and its to the maximum and everyone is happy.

And he has this to say again, that i aint like other girls who will confide in their bfs the first thing they encountered problems or situations.
I only have this to say.
I do not like to face "defeat" in its eyes.

I do not believe in saying what a person likes to listen.
I believe in saying what I FEEL should be the right thing or more beneficial to the situation.
Maybe I am wrong but at least I SAY what i feel.
But I have facts to back my words with.
I try not to meddle too much into your personal life and choices but i always hope you can find out yourself.
I try to give you more options but in the end you have to choose the option yourself.
For this case alone, we have opinions that are vastly and distinctly different.
Call me a low tolerance towards risk person, i like to take things the slow and steady way.
I've asked you what should i have done or should do in the future.
You always give me the same answer, "whatever you like"
I cant do that to you. I want to be there for you when you take that first venture.

Maybe I am a fierce and stubborn gf but then again, you can always prove me wrong.

************

Its a simply theory, if you have known someone else is doing something that is disadvantageous towards a loved one or friends you know, will you stand out and say something in defence or just kept quiet and hope they will find out themselves?

I wont keep quiet, that's for sure.
Even if its something delicate like a relationship, i'll say cause i believe everyone is entitled to the TRUTH and not live in "oblivion".

Maybe I should tone down.

Yesterday was excursion day with mum.
Accompanied her to marketing in the morning then went VIVO in the afternoon to have lunch.

There's still alot of places that we hadnt explored so we took our time to browse around and finally settled down on MUSSELS PLACE for lunch.

We tried their recommended "Belgium Mussels" too which is really very savoury, stewed in white wine and butter and soft to the bite.

The things we had.

Dear came along for lunch too but he had to go off earlier.
I brought mum to Chinatown to walk around and did some "stocking up" on toiletries.
Its much cheaper than in normal neighbour shops, both mum and i can attest to it.

I bought myself more artncraft stuff too as xiao mei wanted to make bracelets and i wanted to try out rings.

This is the first.

I am glad to find someone who thinks along the same line as me if not similar..

Sometimes there's no need for excess and "the more the better" mentality doesnt apply all the time, if you can click means you can click, if cant then just leave it as that.
I dont see why people should force themselves to be NOT what they are NATUALLY and have to put on a false front to face some people in order to be in their favour? or stand to gain benefits?
I just feel that if i have a few close ones that really listen, that will be enough.
What are you trying to prove when you are so keen in "collecting" friends?
That you are popular?
That people admire you?
Boost your ego?

So in the end who gives more practical advice? Who is genuinely sympathetic for you?
Who is Truthful with you? You can gauge for yourself. If you cant then i cant help in anyway too.
What's the point in meeting up with "friends" whom you are not even enthusiastic to meet?
That you cannot be bothered how you behave in front of them?
Behaving "naturally" is good.
Behaving "excessively against your previous portrayal to others" is just a sign of rebellion.
If you are good naturedly, just be that.
WHY need to be bad cause of "bad people always get what they want" mentality?
Just think.
Do you think they are gen·u·ine·ly receiving the praises or items or whatnots or is it all just an act to keep them silent.

Sometimes what we meant well aint well taken, its up to individual interpretation. I am trying NOT to superimpose what i think onto my friends, which i am guilty of sometimes.. but i hope to be of help.

But then again, maybe i am being too nosey hahahahha

***********

You want things to happen, you have to MAKE it happen.
But when you try TOO hard, it will backfire. .

Once you list YOUR priorities out, its easier to see.
Once you list the goals you want to achieve then you plan the time line.
Cause sometimes its better to be selfish and think for yourself only.

hahahahahah i hope i can achieve that too. Easier said then done.

CPF savings to earn higher interest

In a nutshell.

b. CPFB will pay higher interest, up to a cap
i. 1 percentage point more
(1) On first $20,000 in your Ordinary Account
(2) And on up to a total of $60,000 on your combined Accounts (i.e. OA + SMRA)
ii. More than half the active members will get 1% more on all their balances
iii. You can still use the $60,000 for housing or medical expenses
iv. But not to take out to invest on your own (through CPFIS)
c. Beyond $60,000, maintain status quo
i. If you have this much, you should be able to look after yourself
ii. Can invest money yourself through the CPFIS

so its OA from 2.5%-->3.5% SMRA from 4%-5%?

and it means i cant have have CPF-linked investment anymore.. which fetches an even higher rate of interest on MY money but looking at it from a MORE positive point of view, it is RISK-FREE.
My investment was in the red for almost half a yr before picking up and its dependent on market fluctuations.

Summary of CPF Changes
16. Three major changes to the CPF:
a. Higher CPF interest – 1% more on first $60,000(not applicable for investment)
b. Later DDA(draw-down age) – from 62 to 65 (whereby you recieve monthly payout from CPFB out of your minimum sum)
c. Compulsory annuities(montly payout by an insurer) – for those now below 50(montly payout by an insurer)

and minimum sum is set at $99,600 before you can even cash out the balance at age 55.
i wonder if i ever will have THAT much minimum sum in my CPF with everything rising in price EXCEPT my paycheck.

Better to make back-up plans BESIDE relying on CPF.

This morning visited grandpa and after that went over to Bukit Panjang Plaza for lunch and bought grandpa some donuts LOL .. and for other relatives too especially for my hyper active little niece who's three but can rattle on in english much to the amusement of her grandpa.
It has become an almost weekly affair to visit grandpa who's in his eighties and the pa·tri·arch of my family.
I believe in the importance of relations though i aint one who has much to talk to them but at least we aint isolated from the rest.

I bought a magazine and came across this article "Financial Disater?Yes/No?"
I know spending habits need time to change and i am trying hard to prevent myself from bursting the budget that i had set for myself. I realised the importance of "setting aside first spend later" the hard way but its better late than never. i've ask dear to nudge me if i spend unnecessarily and i'm sorry he has to put up with my grumblings.

So.. some of the questions i found in the article to test yourself.
Interested can try out.
Do answer Yes/No to these questions and if you answered "Yes" to more than 5, you are safe.

1)Do you save at least 10 percent of your salary every month?
2)Do your loans or debts take up less than 20% of your salary every month?
3)Do you have savings worth at least 6 months' of your salary?
4)Do you have any life insurance policies?
5)Do you invest your CPF funds?
6)Do you pay your credit card bills on time every month?
7)Do you monitor your monthly bills, savings and your investments closely every month?
8)Do you have enough money to cover your expenses if an emergency arise?(hospitalisation etc)
9)Do you practise budgeting in terms of your expenditure?

So are you safe?

For question 2, i had busted that 20% cap as i'm still paying study loans, my insurance policies and "forced savings" and allowances to parents..

And so i'll wait. Hope i preserve till the end!

watched BOURNE ULTIMATUM..
you have to watched the first two to know what's going on in this last installment.
JASON BOURNE lost his identity and wants to find out what happened to his past.
with all the "jumpin around"(if you have seen the heineken commercial), and the quick thinking mind of his to remain undetected by the "big brother"
BUT one thing i couldnt stand was the way they filmed it.
Made me dizzy as you are seeing the show from a "first person" point, with the shaky sences and fast speed chasing, though it makes the audience more involved with the show.

Jobs with fastest increasing pay
August 11th, 2007

Ever wondered which jobs give the highest “growth” in their wages? In this post, I produce (yet another) ranking table for 30 jobs with the highest increments.

Some background first.

I analysed the wage data from the Report on Wages in Singapore 2006 and found that specialised surgeons, risk management managers and advertising copywriters get the highest increase in their pay over the years.

Specifically, I looked at the median wage data of managers and professionals of 8 age groups. What I did was equivalent to plotting a graph of wage against age for a particular job, getting the best fitted straight line using least squares method, and calculating the slope of that line. (Obviously, I did not do all these manually. I used Excel.)

The results. Specialised surgeons get an average increment of $530 per year, over 40 years. That is an increment of $21,200!

For risk management managers, it’s $416 per year. And for advertising copywriters, it’s $325 per year.

But note that data for advertising copywriters aged 40 and above is not available. Ditto for risk management managers aged 50 and above.

Here’s the ranking table:

Specialised surgeon - $530/yr
Risk management manager - $416/yr
Advertising copywriter - $325/yr
Chemist - $324/yr
Credit analyst - $285/yr
General Manager - $250/yr
Business management consultant - $210/yr
Food and drink technologist - $194/yr
Training manager - $185/yr
Corporate planning manager - $179/yr
Biologist - $177/yr
Legal officer - $171/yr
Building architect - $155/yr
Computer and information systems manager - $150/yr
Power generation and distribution engineer - $148/yr
Business development manager - $143/yr
Computer operations and network manager - $142/yr
Research and development manager - $141/yr
Aeronautical engineer - $140/yr
Business analyst - $137/yr
Operations manager (Finance) - $136/yr
Chemical engineer (Petroleum) - $135/yr
Advocate and solicitor - $131/yr
Medical social worker - $129/yr
Company director - $128/yr
Computer engineer - $128/yr
Managing director - $127/yr
General physician - $126/yr
Engineering manager - $121/yr
Industrial health, safety and environment engineer - $118/yr

AND

According to my findings, the top industry for managers is, not surprisingly, financial services. The following are the industries ranked by average gross wage for managers (highest shown first):

Financial services - $9,682
Professional services - $8,870
Information & communications (infocomm) - $8,699
Education health & social services - $7,258
Transport & storage - $7,162
Manufacturing - $7,141
Wholesale & retail trade - $7,004
Real estate & leasing services - $6,504
Construction - $5,496
Administrative & support services - $5,398
Arts entertainment recreation & other services - $5,186
Hotels & restaurants - $3,971

As for professionals (who earn much less than managers), the top industry is education, health & social services, with financial services following closely at 2nd spot. The following is the ranking table for average gross wage for professionals:

Education health & social services - $6,508
Financial services - $5,343
Transport & storage - $5,085
Professional services - $4,492
Information & communications (infocomm) - $4,417
Wholesale & retail trade - $4,351
Manufacturing - $4,153
Real estate & leasing services - $3,753
Arts entertainment recreation & other services - $3,548
Administrative & support services - $3,489
Hotels & restaurants - $3,322
Construction - $3,237

So, maybe a good strategy is to start as a professional in the financial services industry, and then move up to become a manager.

Another good industry is perhaps education, health & social services, but it’s not clear exactly which of education, health or social service pays the best.

I say, stick to financial services. If you have a choice.

random pics for a dull workday, my fav ball of fur

and i met my friend jun after work yesterday, she was depressed.. which i think she shouldnt be but then again, i'm not her... i can only NOT make her more depressed

i cant joke much and i give cold hard facts and am trying to help her by analysing the situation with her.. hope she can be clear with what she wants and not be distracted by things deemed redundant.
sometimes it's good to be oblivious to some of the happenings around you.
why?
makes u walk straight ahead instead of being distracted from your final goal.
you get it my gal?

i better start curbing my expenses if i want to upgrade myself
the average fees payable for some of the courses i am interested in

estimated breakdown will be

so a semester is around 6 mths..and it means i need to save around 4-5 k in 6 mths..
and i reckon that its better to have a year worth of savings for fees payable to even start the course, which means i need to have at least 10K to even begin with.

i've told dear about my grand master plan and he supports me so now ... and all else have to wait.
its decision making soon...
SOON! (makes a mental note)
i dont want to be stuck in a rut.
i think when you are using your own money to study, you will really study for it.
Its then u realise how precious money and time is.. and how important education is.
I know some of my friends actually discouraged me from studying, citing the cost of education against the actual pay increase and the job prospects.
They were saying that my current job's has a steady pay raise though slow advancement yet high stability..
I cant forsee myself doing the same thing for ten years to come.
BUT if i start my studies, i think i better stay put and endure.. unless there's better offers?
maybe i should start looking at job offers again soon..
But thinking of it.. how much can a poly cert get anyway? 1.3-1.7? tsk tsk
Uni grad's average pay i noticed for those around me is around 2.6 -2.8 and is getting better due to the robust economy.
I hate thinking about such things and getting myself demoralised but its better to face the cold hard truth about the world out there.

anyone interested to go too?
please register first

sch just started and i could only board the bus at 6.30 and reached home at 730 when my hrs end at 545 tsk tsk ..
and it will be like this for the months to come ..
and i hate the students for doing things such as CUTTING QUEUES!
dont give me crap about "oh i see a friend!" then happily join in.
one or two who joined "the friend", i am fine with it, dont give me like 4-6 people who happily stand around a person in the queue...
please be more considerate.
this is so maddening but there's nothing to do with the crowds being everywhere, luckily there's still my "emo songlist" hahahhaha
to soothe the mind after work

and i still do not get the craze about that game.. something virtual that needs real money aint virtual to me anymore..
dont flame me
i was never a gamer and not wanting to be one

This SPECIAL day was celebrated at Fish Tales at Clarke Quay with Dear.

i really enjoyed myself yesterday though its only for half a day as he had some army events till late afternoon but nonetheless he made the effort to rush down to meet me.

We browsed Spotlight together searching for scrapbooking stuff and dear promised he will do scrapbooking together with me! heh now i have more reasons to take LOTS of photos.
glad that everything else went smoothly.
oh i think we were taking so many photos that the boss asked if it was our anniversary and he gave us complimentary drinks hahahaha oops we made it too obvious? :P

I bought dear some cookies and a gift and am glad that he loves it.

Dear is having NDP parade again but its the LAST TIME!
I am so glad that we have stuck together throughout till now.
I can feel my heart afluttering and that's how i like mine to be :P
wanna say this again
