which i simply translates to

if you can be stingy with money which is something so practical aka "shen wai wu"
it only meant to show the state of your willingness to share with others your more "personal aspects" such as your emotions with people, affections and care towards people.

I might be more of a feminist, i dont like guys to pay for me till they insist they want to pay.
BUT i like to have lots of attention and PREFER to be provided for if i am interested in the suitor too.
i do not know about other gals.
Some Prefer the guy to pay during courting, dating and after marriage.
Some prefer to have more independence and pay for themselves.
Its a matter of choice, not so much of expectations from society.

There's no standard protocol to me.

"How to know if the gals are NOT leeching?"

i do not know.
Some guys dont mind, some will mind.
Some are quite to spot, some are not.
Depends on the guys themselves, whether they catch any hints of "returning" feelings or interests in them.
If not just treat it as a wasted investment and move on.
