from REVIEW THE STRAITS TIMES MONDAY OCT 16
ultimate cause is the failure of the governance on many levels
- local government failed to prevent fires
- Central government unable to assert its authority
- unable to pin point culprits
i just find this amusing ..and i told alot of people about this phrase
the Indonesian forestry Minister has said, "Our forests produce oxygen but 'we' have never been grateful. Now there is a haze, they complain"
WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL.. for oxygen?
what good are they doin to themselves by burning their VERY OWN LIVELIHOOD?
most of them are farmers..
and this is not the first time it happen
and various countries had funded their "fire-fighting" efforts
but what has become of it?
still "lack of resources"
where has it been used on then?
even if they have the resources
will they do it the "proper" way of clearin forests?
they do not even care about the haze problems themselves..
they just want it to be FAST
one fire
GET OVER AND DONE WITH..
its a sad thing .. not like bush fires in australia whereby it was due to nature
australia really tried their best in sendin out those fire fightin teams.. engines..helicopters to stop it from spreadin ..
and here
we have a country
DELIBERATELY DESTROYIN THEIR OWN RESOURCES
last quote
"Others can help, but Indonesians must want to put out the fires"
