WHY the elite envy

Elitism = term some SIngaporeans to describe an over-emphasis on academic performance

was readin abt ELIISM in the papers yesterday

what can i say?

its a known fact
to me that is

the "ELITE" and the "MAINSTREAMERS"
the "RICH" and the "COMMONERS"

can never be intergrated.. well enough

i do not see how the government can bridge the gap
i feel that the gap will just keep increasing.. no matter what packages they are trying to come up with ..

its not just the COMMONERS who are FULL OF ENVY
i feel its the ELITE AND THE RICH who are getting snobbish
the younger generation that is.. the sheltered lot

i support the notion "we go for meritocracy but must not end up being selfish"

the ELITE lot tend to move around their own social circles
oblivious to "other quarters" around them
they're in their own world whereby most of their needs and wants are well taken care of..
they ASSUME alot of things about themselves and ppl around them ESP those who are not within their "educational range or income range"

eg
a pri 6 student from the GEP was flamed on the Internet for saying in her letter to the PRESS that she thought "mainstreamers" were less mature than GEPers like her and that was why she preferred to be in a specialised class that "lets them interact with ppl like her"

i quote a paragraph from the article

"..members of the elite look out for themselves and use their connections to open doors only for their own kind and it is easy to see how the anger and resentment can build up"

i sound bias?
i sound envious?
i just feel unjustifiable

Prove otherwise to me then
