Health perks and not so healthy news

One of the perks at my workplace will be, there's free basic health screening for all staff.
This year, I decided to get a more comprenhensive screening which comes with free voucher for another basic screening.
I think I will give it to dear instead as mum and dad have their own screening packages from their own companies.
Last year, my blood pressure was dangerously low to the point of undetectable.. this year is back to normal range.
OH, weight is currently at 50.1kg..after all the suppers, mooncakes, BBQ and even seafood dinner...
Hopefully the other test results wont be affected too much by my diet ><

on another note

Bailout plan rejected
  • US lawmakers vote down US$700 billion bailout plan
  • Stocks fall, investors rush to gold and govt bonds
  • Central banks inject liquidity as US recession fears mount
  • Regulators increase curbs on short-selling in Asia

not so healthy outlook for my investments..

shopping, birthday and dinner

Sat 2709

Somehow woke up at 7am already, kinda used to waking up early. Went Boon Lay marketplace with mum for breakfast and to do some marketing. We ate the duck noodles woh, i queued almost 15 min for that lol but mum likes it. The soup given was really thick too, with pieces of duck meat inside.
We went into the wet market to get some stuff and later went on to NTUC to stock up and then back to the food centre to pack lunch home LOL. We were carrying so many bags of stuff that we had to stop every now and then and getting up and down the bus was such a chore.

Afternoon went orchard with sis to buy present for the birthday day. We'll be attending his bbq at night so gotten him something from ZARA and were glad he likes it.
Sis and I bought shoes too heh..

BBQ was so fun lol i think the birthday boy was too happy and alittle tipsy already hahah
he was doing all sort of poses and being so "conscious" when we played some guessing and drinking games hahha but in the end he succumbed to drowsiness.
Did not take many pics as it was quite dark over there and we were all busy playing games lol.
Later at night, I went over to dear's place as it's much nearer.

springy noodles with lots of sauce, free flow beansprout lol and generous serving of meat

i think i prefer this market then my own, much spacious and cleaner with more varieties

Sun 2809

I went Great World City with dear's family for breakfast at Kenny ROgers~
With ribs and roast chicken and lots of side dishes lol, i love the variety of side dishes there and my favourite being the "cheesy pasta", sinful yet delicious.

Lazed at home in the afternoon then dinner was at Shore restuarant. Great Ambience and surroundings woh, right on the beach itself. The sea is just beside our table and we can see the ships and the planes passing us by.
Dear said we can cycle and expore that area next time.
:P great place to chill.

Had a great seafood dinner thanks to dear and his sis.
Another foodie adventure for me. :)

S'pore still least corrupt in Asia

S'pore still least corrupt in Asia
By Kor Kian Beng Sep 24, 2008

"In this year's index, Singapore scores 9.2, behind joint-leaders Denmark, Sweden and New Zealand, all of which obtained a 9.3 score. At the other end are Somalia (1.0), Iraq and Myanmar (1.3) and Haiti (1.4).

Asian economies which placed significantly are Hong Kong (12th), Japan (18th), Taiwan (39th), South Korea (40th) and Malaysia (47th)"

and I dug out this piece of old news

PM, ministers to get pay rise of between 14% and 33%
By May Wong, Channel NewsAsia Posted: 09 April 2007 1805 hrs

"SINGAPORE : The annual salaries of the Prime Minister, ministers and top civil servants will be increased by between 14 percent and 33 percent, with the average pay rise of 25 percent...

The SR9 grade which is the entry level into the Superscale grades of civil servants is benchmarked against the salary of the 15th person, aged 32 years, from 6 professions, namely bankers, lawyers, engineers, accountants, employees of MNCs and local manufacturers. This benchmark which dipped in 2004 - 2005, but has since risen, currently stands at $361,000.

The second benchmark, the MR4 grade or Staff Grade I, which is the grade at which senior Permanent Secretaries and entry-level ministers are paid, is defined as two-thirds of the median salary among the top 8 earners in banking, law, engineering and accountancy, as well as employees of MNCs and local manufacturers. This benchmark is currently $2.2 million.

Mr Teo said salaries at the MR4 level have stayed at $1.2 million, the same level as in 2001 which means salaries are now at 55% of the benchmark...."

hmm...

no matter how bad the economy is doing, the ministers' pay will be pegged to percentage of "highest tier of earners"

BBQ and Cycling trip

Sat 20/09

Left the house at 11am and went over to Parkway Parade to find dear for some grocery shopping! Dear planned to have bbq in the evening. Firstly, we went to have brunch at Marine Parade Food centre and tried the "Ah Liang hokkien mee" as it was being promoted by "Makunsutra".

Next we went NTUC to find our essentials and foodstuff, dear even bought crabs lol.
When we reached home it was almost 2pm and we spent almost 2 hrs in the kitchen preparing, slicing, skewering, marinating and wrapping the food but it was satisfying to see the end results lol.

Dear started the fire around 6pm, dear's family and I gathered at the front porch to wait for our turn to BBQ and chatted with one another.
An enjoyable night with his family~

Sun 21/09
Dear and I accompanied his mum for grocery shopping for dinner. We had brunch at the Parkway Foodcourt first and had the MeeSiam and MeeRebus, two of the "must tries"in the foodcourt. AFter getting her things, dear and I went home to prepare for our cycling trip to East Coast.

I think I became alittle more braver cause I was "less panicky" to cycle on the roads hahahha and it was such a relief to reach the cycling tracks at East Coast Park after cyling on the roads from dear's place.

Saw this "SGCARBOOT sale", somewhat like a fleamarket~ and we browsed around the place. I gotten myself a little doggie bag while dear gotten snoopi an ultra bling collar LOL.

We then cycled all the way to the East Coast Food centre and also went Bedok Jetty to look at people fishing and to enjoy the sea breeze~ its always good to live near the sea :P
Glad that dear made the effort to accompany me cycling cause I was complaining I do not want to stay home on such a nice sunny day..

Cycled for almost 3 hrs and we went back home for dinner, prepared by his mum, which was really nice of her as she seldom cooks due to her working schedule.

Dear went back home with me in the evening and we lazed the night away at my place and he accompanied me to work this morning before making his way back home again.

Thanks dear again for making the effort to travel such long distance and planning our weekends together~
I really enjoyed myself.

Lets go cycling often! and more mini fishing trips~ I want my prawning session too woh.. the prawning rod has not been in use nowadays..
Maybe I should get myself a bike and leave at dear's place so next time we can go cycling often and also try to boost my confidence on the road.
