Taken with Nikon D90...

Project and more food

Sat 300509

On friday, I went to find dear after class at Bukit Timah before going back dear's home to rush my drama series lol. And I watched till 5am? Till dear shooed me to bed, again. Woke around 9am to continue my show -_- and we went beach road to have Blanco Court Prawn Mee for brunch before dear fetched me to school for my project meeting around 1pm.

We did work till around 6pm while dear waited around before heading to Sunset Way to have dinner at FORTUNE CUISINE. It was SO SO filling, I had like 19 sticks of skewered meat lol

Dear then sent me back home before heading back.

Sun 310509

Went school again around 10am to continue work and the others reached soon after.. did some rounding up of our individual parts till around 3pm before making my way back again.

Dad wanted to have "family dinner" so the whole family went to this "zhi char" place near Jurong east.. not too bad~ lol there's asam fish, sweet and sour chicken, kangkong and hotplate toufu.. It feels good cause due to school and our schedules.. we seldom have time to eat as a family.

Dear's going offshore for fishing, again. hmm.. how I wish I can go too.. not to fish but to experience and take lots of photos!

CHOZ

Met with project mates to discuss about our project on NTUC Fairprice.. and I was pleasantly surprised by NTUC FINEST

CLASS. ORGANISED. VARIETY comes to mind the moment I saw the outlet.
spacious and bright too.. and I simply ADORE the varieties of snacks and japanese food there

Had a drink at CHOZ too.. been such a long time since I had a good chocolate. hahaha
gone were the days when I would not hesistate to buy chocolates on a whim.. Chocolate Box, SINS, Leonidas.. and what nots.. well though I missed it, I don't crave for it as much now.. maybe it's like "tried before" kind of mentality.
The CHOZ drink was too sweet for my liking, not "dark enough" though the thickness was there
funny thing was, they served my drink in a cup without handles.. and it was HOT, maybe a new concept.

After the discussion, caught mum at the busstop near her workplace and we took cab home.
Took 15 min instead of the usual 45min. A once-in-awhile indulgence.

lots of japanese snacks~

POCKY!

and another FACEBOOK QUIZ..

"What is your deepest, darkest fear?" quiz and the result is You fear being alone..

Maybe your mother forgot you in Wal-Mart, or your best friend moved away to Iceland when you were 12, but somewhere along the line, you have learned to fear being alone. You are social by nature, and sometimes the thoughts that sneak into your head when you are by yourself disturb you. You prefer not to think deep thoughts and to live in the moment, but being alone makes that hard to do.

Angels And Demons

The show was great! Watched it at Jurong Point and had me sitting straight up throughout the show.. the only problem was.. I couldnt remember all the names of the churches they explored throughout the show.
And there was a great twist in the show's plot.. though dear said he could guessed it quite early.

Met Dear at 1030am in the morning, great that he could make it so early, had Old Town's penang laksa for breakfast and we had like 6 different types of hotdogs for snacks during the movie hahaha

After the show, walked around and had Swenson's for brunch with my vouchers :P

We finally went back home around 5pm and watched my drama series that dear had gotten for me.
We went out to pack dinner around 9pm with Snoopi.. snoopi's been quite a handful.. considering whether to send him for obedience class or not.

breakfast! Old Town's Penang Laksa

Black Pepper seafood Pasta from Swensons

chili crab pasta.. soft shell crab

Dear accompanied me to Clementi before we seperated and I made my way to meet my project mates for assigment around 10am in the morning..it was not a very conclusive meeting as several parts in the assignment could not be discussed as the lecturer has not gone through the relevant chapters yet..

Meeting ended around 2pm and I took mrt to find dear.. watched my drama series again at dear's place before going for dinner with dear's family at Boon Tong Kee Chicken rice at East Coast Road.

Great dinner, I am grateful for the meal, again :)

Dear then sent me home at night and that was our weekends.

Food at work

was kinda limited due to the school holidays.. but luckily there are still lunch kakis around.. its kinda disheartening to always eat by myself.. tsk tsk

a colleague had her confirmation and treated us to pizza.
Been out to lunch with my lunch kakis and i finally tried the western food..
usually i dont feel the need to splurge on food at work.. it is just to fill me up.. or else i think i gotten really sick of it till nothing matters.. but due to the HUGE crowds at other stalls.. i was forced to eat western food.. and.. it actually tasted nice.

grilled fish is nice though the salad portion was really miserable
mash potatoes not as "instant tasting" as i thought

kinda too dried though.. maybe over fried.

********
just had appraisal.. hopefully there's PB.. though not placing much hope on it..
And I downloaded an Expenses-tracking application onto my Itouch.. instead of the usual pen-and-paper method I always use.. hopefully will be better for my bank account.
I seriously think.. I surf net and use the applications more than I actually listen to the songs on my Itouch :P

PRE GSS

Offers galore ahead of GSS

WITH less than two weeks to the Great Singapore Sale (GSS), retailers have stolen the march on the annual shopping festival with early sales and attractive offers.

With shop signs already screaming discounts of 70 per cent, should shoppers hope for even bigger price cuts come May 29, the sale's launch date?

Probably not, said retailers and industry experts interviewed. What shoppers can expect are more freebies, a wider range of discounted goods and more vouchers to encourage repeat spending.

Retail sales have been falling since last October, when the global financial crisis hit and consumers zipped up their wallets.

In response, shops have been slashing prices to the point, they say, that their margins have become razor thin. This is why they will stick to the 50 to 70 per cent discounts offered last year.

The sale, a two-month affair starting in late May, is a major event on the shopping calendar.

Takashimaya is giving shopping vouchers to customers with purchases of at least $200, while furniture store Courts will widen the range of discounted goods.

Singapore Jewellers Association head Ho Nai Chuen said jewellery stores will probably have giveaways and joint promotions.

If the latest retail numbers are anything to go by, shoppers are likely to go for such deals, especially for small-ticket items. Retail sales, which exclude car sales, edged up 3.3 per cent in March over February - the first uptick in this category since November.

Branding expert Joseph Baladi of the consultancy BrandAsian said the GSS is still a strong brand despite these pre-sale deals, adding: 'People will still believe it's a great sale because there are still discounts. Besides, Singaporeans love to shop.'

anyway we were asking a guy's budget for a proposal ring.. he said 3K and not much more.

and my friend was saying a wedding should cost around 10K after minus the ang pows..
that is if your dinner tables break even..and provided you invite the right people.

I can say, i am a good guest, I never let the host "lugi" :P

so what's your budget for a proposal ring?
guys take this poll and we shall find out :)

Educational news

$3.5b boost for poly sector
http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_378770.html

THE Government will invest $3.5 billion in the polytechnic sector over the next 10 years to boost opportunities for students to upgrade themselves.
Of that, $1.6 billion will go to a new institute to offer a more direct route for polytechnic graduates to get degrees here.

The new Singapore Institute of Applied Technology (SIAT), to be ready by 2011, will plan, manage and implement degree programmes offered by foreign universities and five polytechnics, Education Minister Ng Eng Hen told reporters on Tuesday morning.

Dr Ng also announced that Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from the US will be a partner of the new university. The other yet-to-be-known partner university will come from China.

President S R Nathan, in his opening address to the second session of the 11th Parliament on Monday night, said the new institute and the fourth university will ensure that 30 per cent of the students can enter state-supported universities.

At Tuesday's briefing, Dr Ng also said a third medical school will be set up, and Nanyang Technological University has been asked to submit the proposal.

NTU to run 3rd med school

http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_379246.html

A THIRD medical school, which taps science and technology, is coming up in Singapore.
It will be run by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), which has been asked to submit a proposal for such a set-up in the next six to 12 months. No date of opening is available yet.

NTU was picked as it had 'built up its biological and biomedical sciences base in recent years', the Education Ministry (MOE) announced yesterday.

The third school will take in 100 to 150 students a year, adding to the 310 who now graduate each year from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.

This increase will help Singapore cope with the greater medical needs that a greying population will have, noted Education Minister Ng Eng Hen, himself medically trained, yesterday.

But the school, he made clear, should differentiate itself from its two established counterparts.

'This medical school must be positioned for the future...We must also anticipate the way medical care will be delivered 10, 20 years from now,' he said.

Dr Su Guaning, the president of NTU, agreed that the way health care is administered in an ageing society may shift.

'Technology will become vital as care spreads beyond hospitals and into homes,' said Dr Su, who chairs the advisory panel for the proposed medical school.

Because of this, medical students at NTU will come to grips with modern technology, including the use of information technology (IT) and mechanical devices used in health care, he said.
