FInally

I completed my review questions to a module.. which had like 39 pages of answers? -_-

Went dental in the morning yesterday and finally did the last crowning session. Hopefully my dental woes are over..

Just these two years alone, I did a surgery, 3 extractions and a root canal plus crowning zzz

After that, I walked over from Beauty World back to school to find my classmates to do revision together.. and we did from 130 till around 830 then went to Bukit Timah food centre for dinner.

We talked about pets lol and it seems they have this fear of animals or living stuff in general..

Its not that hard to take care, really. And they dont smell, if you bathed them often..
I think I must be lucky that my family has allowed us to keep so many species before.. some sort of instilling a sense of responsibility and being receptive towards alot of different species.
We had fishes, fresh and marine, hamsters and currently a guinea pig and now Snoopi.

I feel, pets calm me down and keep me grounded. At least I dont feel lonely when I am home alone. :)
Of course, that is not the sole purpose of keeping pets, its part of a whole package, of being responsible and having a playmate and a companion and so much more.

And again, my sleeping baby, gosh I sound so motherly :P

Teen gets probation for sex with girl, 10

By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent

A TEENAGER who had sex with a 10-year-old girl in late 2007 and early last year was placed on 18 months' probation yesterday.
Xia Yun, 19, who pleaded guilty to two counts of carnal connection, was 17 when he had sex with the girl in his Woodlands home on Nov 9, 2007.

When they had sex again a few weeks later, she had turned 11.

Two other similar charges were taken into consideration.

He was in court with his parents, who signed a bond of $5,000 to ensure his good behaviour.

A permanent resident, Xia looked relieved after Community Court Judge Soh Tze Bian decided to place him on probation instead of sending him to jail.

Under the probation order, Xia, who is now married with a two-month-old son, has to do 100 hours of community service work.

The girl he had sex with came to know Xia, who is now waiting to be enlisted into national service, in December 2006 when she was surfing a multi-player online gaming website.

They began contacting each other through calls and text messages.

Soon after he sent her a love poem on Valentine's Day of 2007, they became a couple and met often in Tampines.

The girl, who is now 12, went to Xia's sister's barbecue at East Coast Park with him on Nov 8, 2007 and spent the night there.

The next morning, he took her to his flat where they had consensual sex. They had sex again the following month.

The girl's father reported to the police in January last year that she had been molested. She is now staying in a children's home.

Xia could have been jailed for up to five years and fined up to $10,000 on each charge.

*****
he got off with community service ONLY?
What happen to the offence of STATUTORY RAPE? He could have been jailed, why is he NOT?
Not that I am bias against GAMING, it seems to be always in the news for the BAD PRESS.

What were they thinking?
I know kids are having sex younger nowadays
There might be "nothing wrong with having sex during teen years" or having multiple relationships or whatsoever.. but at 10 years old is abit too much.

Now what happened to the days of "good clean fun" during childhood years?
How can the 17 yr old be THAT naive? Dont tell me he was "blinded by love".

Breaking out of the monotony

of typing answers to the review questions.. I decided to clean out my makeup stash and placed them in a box.

Total count currently:

3 mascaras
2 blushes
2 lipglosses
1 concealor
14 eyeshadows
2 eyeliners
3 eyeshadow palettes

heh, I am proud of my "little" stash.. mostly USD$1 eyeshadows from Pure Luxe and MAJOLICA MAJORCA stuff from Taiwan.. all budget brands :P
As long as it stays on me and does not give me outbreaks, why not?

I strongly recommend MAJOLICA MAJORCA stuff, its affordable and there's lots of varieties to choose from. Best of all, now it can be found in WATSONS here, to think I bought a stash from Taiwan.. AND the packaging's SO pretty~~

hmm.. the problem is, I am usually lazy to put on any makeup except for dates to town and special occassions -_-

Guilty look

When I reached home this evening.

******

something random.. some tests I did on FACEBOOK.

Geraldine just took the "What is your personality like?" quiz and the result is You are a C - Cautious person..

Cautious people are critical thinkers. They draw conclusions and base action on facts, correctness, the rules and accuracy. They are slow paced and task oriented. They are trivia experts, someone who might appear on Jeopardy. They are very effective in their work. They combine intuition with facts to reach a conclusion. They like to work with people who think the way they do. They like to keep peace. They may not be shy but people find it difficult to read them. They don't show their feelings. They tend to protect their privacy. Aggressive people upset them. They control their environment by understanding the rules and following them. These may be existing rules or their own rules but they will follow them. They study privately to learn about a subject before discussing it in public. They only start a project when they're sure of perfection. Perfection is very important to them. They tend to be critical of themselves. They defend their position and support it rather than show flexibility. They think in outline form, frequently saying, "number 1 and b", thinking things in sequence. They make to-do lists. They ask, they don't tell. They want answers to their "WHY" and "HOW" questions.

Geraldine completed the quiz "What should your major be?" with the result Criminal Justice.

You have a strong sense of right and wrong, and want to make sure no one gets away with doing bad things, unless of course they are only slightly mischievous acts committed by your friends. You have a curious mind and enjoy solving puzzles. You find guns and fast cars fun and useful. You are not afraid of criminals, and are manipulative enough to trick them into confession. In the meantime, working for the university police department giving parking tickets, unlocking buildings, and escorting students suits you just fine, as it pays decently enough to buy supplies for the notorious parties you and your friends like to throw. However, you also have a parental side and always make sure your friends stay safe..

A pleasant surprise

When dear came to fetch me last evening for our anniversary.
Our 68th mth anniversary.
He brought along a picnic basket and brought me to the beach..

An unforgetable experience..though we had a few picnics and bbq at the beach before.. this was the sweetest.

Dear made salad, torilla wraps and even brought along a bottle of wine!
lol I drank most of it though. There's even chips with salsa sauce, dear even brought salad dressing.

And we watched the beautiful sunset, sitting side by side, with seabreeze blowing and toasting our glasses.

brussel sprouts

tortilla wrap with grilled chicken and salsa sauce!

Toast. to us.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria identified in 2 cases of rojak food poisoning

By Lynda Hong, Channel NewsAsia Posted: 07 April 2009 2310 hrs

SINGAPORE: Preliminary lab results show two of the Geylang Serai food poisoning cases have tested positive for the bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

According to a joint statement from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Environment Agency, the bacteria is a common cause of food poisoning associated with consumption of raw or partially cooked seafood.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus - which comes from the same family as the bacteria which causes cholera - causes watery diarrhoea and abdominal cramps in nearly all cases, usually with nausea, vomiting, fever and headache.

Typically, it is a disease of moderate severity lasting one to seven days. Systemic infection and death rarely occur. The incubation period is usually between 12 to 24 hours, but can range from four to 96 hours.

But with investigations still ongoing, the ministry added it has yet to establish if the pathogen is the cause of this outbreak.

The ministry said it has been notified of 137 cases so far. Thirty-seven were hospitalised, while 100 received outpatient treatment at various hospital emergency departments and clinics.

These cases started to fall sick between April 2 and 4 with food poisoning symptoms such as severe abdominal cramps, vomiting, and diarrhoea.

The ministry has adviced the public to discard any unconsumed food purchased from the 'Rojak Geylang Serai' stall.

It said food poisoning is generally not contagious but faecal-oral transmission can occur with poor personal hygiene.

Those with queries can contact MOH at 1800-225-4122.

More information on Vibrio parahaemolyticus is available at the United States' Centres for Disease Control and Prevention website at http://www.cdc.gov/nczved/dfbmd/disease_listing/vibriop_gi.html.

SMU economics graduates top earners among cohort in 2008

By Hoe Yeen Nie, Channel NewsAsia Posted: 03 April 2009 2208 hrs

SINGAPORE: Last year, economics graduates from the Singapore Management University received average starting salaries of S$4,164 per month, making them the top earners among fresh grads.

The figure was over S$1,000 more than the S$3,107 received by economics graduates from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Business graduates from the National University of Singapore (NUS) came in second, with a pay of S$3,971.

Among NTU graduates, those with Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering degrees were paid the most, with average monthly salaries of S$3,232.

Employment figures also remain positive.

At NTU and NUS, over eight in 10 engineering grads found jobs six months after getting their degrees. - CNA/vm/al

*******
its hard to believe, not that I am feeling sour.
What I heard from actual graduates is FAR off that mark.
maybe they took "isolated high earners" as the average?
or maybe I am wrong.

On a sun morning

woke up too early again, due to snoopi's barking.
While flipping through the papers.. found an interesting article, to me that is.
I scanned it for easier reading.

"while financial independence will make a woman more confident and fulfilled, whether it will lead to a happier marriage is a different matter"

some types of men taken from the article
-who like their wives to pull their economic weight at home
-who feels threatened when a woman has money on her own
-wants to be the sole breadwinner
-feel safer when wife is dependent(chances of her running away are less)

AND I found another interesting use of donuts.

Scorpions - Still Loving You

Time, it needs time
To win back your love again.
I will be there, I will be there.

Love, only love
Can bring back your love someday.
I will be there, I will be there.

Fight, babe, I'll fight
To win back your love again.
I will be there, I will be there.

Love, only love
Can break down the walls someday.
I will be there, I will be there.

If we'd go again
All the way from the start,
I would try to change
The things that killed our love.

Your pride has build a wall, so strong
That I can't get through.
Is there really no chance
To start once again?
I'm loving you.

Try, baby try
To trust in my love again.
I will be there, I will be there.

Love, your love
Just shouldn't be thrown away.
I will be there, I will be there.

If we'd go again
All the way from the start,
I would try to change
The things that killed our love.

Your pride has build a wall, so strong
That I can't get through.
Is there really no chance
To start once again?

If we'd go again
All the way from the start,
I would try to change
The things that killed our love.

Yes I've hurt your pride, and I know
What you've been through.
You should give me a chance
This can't be the end.

I'm still loving you.
I'm still loving you,
I need your love.
I'm still loving you.
Still loving you, baby...

Sleepless

I am RARELY awake at this hr.. must be the teh tarik I had with mum at AL Azah at Bukit Timah Lol.
Class lasted for 1hr -_- and I went off to wait for mum to finish her work and brought her to the prata place near her workplace for some supper..
She had mee goreng while I had the cheese and egg prata and the teh tarik.

Just looking through the forums and reading about "clingy gfs" to "credit cards" to "how to save money"
I have varied interests.

I have applied leave for my exams.. recently started revision on one module.. the most "labour intensive" module with the most words..
hopefully this weekends I can accomplish and write out charts for at least half the book..
Dear has been "nagging" me often to keep revising or read.. its good encouragement :P
I WILL catch up.

Right Now, as long as I have my aims in mind, I will bear with it all..
I hope you have the same aims as me too.

Juicing

My mum starting juicing recently after I told her about Beets.
and it doesnt taste as bad as you think.

Beets have lots of health benefits.
some information I found online

The beets belong to the same family as chard and spinach. Beet leaves have a bitter taste like chard, but is rich in chlorophyll. Although bitter, the greens have a higher nutritional value than its roots.

Both beet root and beet greens are very powerful cleansers and builders of the blood. Betacyanin is the phytochemical in beet that gives it its rich 'amethyst' color that significantly reduces homocysteine levels.

Nutritional Benefits

Beets are loaded with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and C. The greens have a higher content of iron compared to spinach. They are also an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, sodium and iron.

While the sweet beet root has some of the minerals in its greens to a lesser degree, it is also a remarkable source of chlorine, folic acid, iodine, manganese, organic sodium, potassium, fiber and carbohydrates in the form of natural digestible sugars.

Its iron content, though not high, is of the highest and finest quality that makes excellent food that is blood building. This renders it highly effective in treating many ailments caused by our toxic environment and surrounding.

Health Benefits

Beets have long been known for its amazing health benefits for almost every part of the body. And yet, it is something that very few people take, much less its juice.

Start adding beets to your juicing diet to enjoy all its heavenly goodness:

Acidosis: Its alkalinity is essential and effective in combating acidosis.

Anemia: The high content of iron in beets regenerates and reactivates the red blood cells and supplies fresh oxygen to the body. The copper content in beets help make the iron more available to the body. A great blood builder.

Atherosclerosis: This wonderful crimson juice is a powerful solvent for inorganic calcium deposits that cause the arteries to harden.

Blood pressure: All its healing and medicinal values effectively normalizes blood pressure, lowering high blood pressure or elevating low blood pressure.

Cancer: Betaine, an amino acid in beet root, has significant anti-cancer properties. Studies show that beets juice inhibits formation of cancer-causing compounds and is protective against colon or stomach cancer.

Constipation: The cellulose content helps to ease bowel movements. Drinking beets juice regularly will help relieve chronic constipation.

Dandruff: Mix a little vinegar to a small cup of beets juice. Massage it into the scalp with your fingertips and leave on for about an hour, then rinse. Do this daily till dandruff clears up. Warning: you will smell awful during this hour!

Detoxification: The chlorine from this wonderful juice detoxifies not only the liver, but also the entire system of excessive alcohol abuse, provided consumption is ceased.

Gastric ulcer: Mix honey with your beets juice and drink two or three times a week on an empty stomach (more frequently if your body is familiar with beets juice). It helps speed up the healing process.

Gall bladder and kidney ailments: Coupled with carrot juice, the superb cleansing virtues are exceptional for curing ailments relating to these two organs.

Gout: Another ailment that can be greatly helped by the cleansing that beets have to offer.

Liver or bile: The cleansing virtues in beets juice is very healing for liver toxicity or bile ailments, like jaundice, hepatitis, food poisoning, diarrhea or vomiting. A squeeze of lime with beets juice heightens the efficacy in treating these ailments.

Varicose veins: In similar ways that it helps to keep the elasticity of arteries, regular consumption of beets juice also helps prevent varicose veins.
(for your info, varicose veins are found on legs usually during pregnancy)

Consumption Tips

Choose beet roots that are firm and unwrinkled. With the greens attached, beets can keep for only three to four days in the fridge as the root has to supply moisture to the leaves. Without the greens attached, beet root can keep for a couple of weeks.

Beets with round bottoms are sweeter than flat-bottomed ones. Eat beets fresh to enjoy its flavor better. Do not overheat beets when cooking as heat destroys all the essential nutrients. Remove the skin before cooking.

Caution

Individuals with a history of oxalate-containing kidney stones should limit their consumption of beets.

As beetroot juice is very potent, do not consume too much, especially if your body is not yet accustomed to it. For a beginner, start with the juice of half a medium-sized beetroot once a week, slowly increasing to one whole beetroot a week.

This delicious juice is so potent that it may cause some dizziness during cleansing as toxins are being eliminated. This process may cause some discomfort but there is nothing to be alarmed about. During this time, drink plenty water also to flush out the toxic materials.

Recommended Recipes for weight loss

Grapes have a low glycemic index of 50 and are an excellent stimulator of your body metabolism in helping to burn excess food and waste. Apples are very low in calories and have the necessary minerals to normalize the colon function, which is important for safe weight loss.
Not only do the lime/lemon and ginger perk up the taste of your juice, their fat-fighting and health properties are simply remarkable.
Juice a handful of grapes, one apple, half a lemon and/or one lime. If you like some spice, add about a quarter or half an inch of ginger. Add some cold drinking water according to taste.

The soluble fiber and beta-carotene found in carrot and tomato are natural fat-fighting properties and nutritious in many ways. Juice them with celery and broccoli that are not only very low in calories but also help burn fats.

Recommended Recipes for Constipation

Spinach is an excellent intestinal tract cleanser and regenerator, making it a good food for constipation sufferers. The alkalinizing effect of watermelon helps neutralize the toxic and acidic environment in the colon. Watermelon juice is effective in aiding the elimination of wastes. Potato juice helps prevent the fermentative process in the intestine and encourage the growth of friendly bacteria in the digestive tract.
Use one stalk of spinach, two slices of watermelon and half a medium-sized potato.

Broccoli contains a strong substance which naturally induce our body's own enzymes which would aid in digestion. Carrot juice helps get the digestion going and functioning. It is also high in fiber content that is necessary for constipation¾making stools softer and easier to be eliminated.
The above combination has very little juice yield. Use half a head of a medium-sized broccoli, one large carrot, and half a grapefruit. If you can stomach the bitter and sour taste of grapefruit, use a whole grapefruit. Grapefruit juice is extremely effective in easing constipation and helps digestion by increasing the flow of gastric juices.
