Vesak weekends 2010

Friday 28th May

went MacRitchie Resevoir with mum and her gang. woke at 545am and went off to meet her gang. Reached MacRitchie at 720am and walked and walked till 11+ before heading off to ADAM ROAD FOOD CENTRE to have nasi lemak!

Took bus back. Rest awhile before meeting dear for movie at CATHAY.
Watched Prince of Persia! Reminds me of Tomb Raider~ lots of action and jumping around lol

Dinner was at ISHI MURA at POMO.

Saturday 29th May

Went breakfast with dear's family
before dear and I went to fetch my mum from work and we brought her to AL Ameen for Indian food for lunch.
Dear bought egg tarts to bring over to grandpa's place too.
After lunch went grandpa's place, while grandpa was sleepy and went to nap after talkin to us for awhile, aunt was there so we showed her our Hongkong pics.

After that went back home.
Second sis' bf came and we mahjong at night, with her treating us pizza for dinner :D

But I lost ah.. and I lost dear's winnings too -_-
In total lost 16 and my eyes could barely remain open when it was nearing 11pm..

Sun 30th May

Woke up and watched Sex in the City part 1 before we made our way to Jurong East to take MRT. Dear's shoes bit him badly so we went to get him new slippers before making our way to Resort World Sentosa!
It was an eye opener but some parts are still unfinished.
Went back dear's place after that before making our way out to Punggol to have dinner at Sakura at Marina Country Club~

Dear then sent me back.. we were talking..we will never take punggol flats.. unless really left with no choice.
Even by car, it was still freaking far, from his place and even further from mine.
Dear drove from TPE to SLE to BKE to KJE then PIE before reaching my place.
Madness.

Anyway thanks to dear, had a packed and fulfilling weekend.
And I managed to spent time both with family and dear :D

Snoopi's Vaccination

Dear came to pick us to go vet for snoopi's vaccination last night.
Snoopi almost jumped off the metal table the moment I place him on it, think he hates the vet.
AND dear suffered from sinus after going into the vet clinic.. think too much dog fur.. sorry dear..
he couldnt sleep well and had running nose even till this morning..

He still has to go JB with his friends this afternoon.. shopping and seafood at night..
worried for dear...

another curious thing, dear refused to let me add him on facebook. oh well if he wants his privacy, I'll give it to him.

Something I read last week

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/World/Story/STIStory_526970.html

DUBAI - IT'S THE ultimate hole-in-the-wall - a money machine that dispenses pure gold.

But installed beneath the gold-coated ceilings of Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace hotel, where royalty and billionaires come for cappuccinos topped with gold flakes, the machine almost seems part of the furniture.

'The reason we chose Emirates Palace is because it really fits with the surroundings here,' said German entrepreneur Thomas Geissler, creator of the 'Gold to Go' brand and chief executive of Ex Oriente Lux. The exterior of the machine is coated with a thin layer of gold and offers customers 320 items to choose from, ranging from gold bars that can weigh up to 10 grams, to customised gold coins.

'All the gold is imported from Germany, and soon we will have a customised gold bar with a print of the Emirates Palace logo, which will be a nice souvenir for guests to take home,' said Mr Geissler. Through a computer system, the ATM gold machine updates the gold price every 10 minutes to match international markets. For now, it takes notes of the local dirham currency, but the option of using credit cards will soon be introduced.

The cash-for-gold machines were first tested in Germany in 2009, but Mr Geissler chose Abu Dhabi for the official launch of his invention because of the region's high demand for gold. 'On the first night we had a lot of demand,' he said. 'One customer even bought one item of every product we have.'

Geissler's timing is spot-on, as investors flock to gold as a safe haven from economic turbulence. On Thursday, gold priced in sterling and euros reached record highs, while that priced in the more usual dollar denomination was quoted at US$1,236 an ounce, with dealers expecting it to reach fresh highs over coming days. -- REUTERS

I think, as I get older, I am better at dealing with disappointment.
Although I hate it when things do not follow the way I expect, I just have to be more adept in dealing with it and find new alternatives for it.

There's a will there's a way.
As long you are willing to work hard for it.

Reason why

dear refused to let me get a credit card.
and my "kiasi-ness" to not be in debt and to worry about card repayments every month.
but i wonder how long can we be "cardless" when everywhere are encouraging use of cards.

Prevention is better than cure.

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_529522.html

NEW payment data suggests that many young Singaporeans are grappling with debt issues.

An analysis of credit payment figures from financial services providers by credit and business information company DP Credit Bureau (DPCB) shows that 21-year-olds to 29-year-olds have the highest rate of default of any age group.

According to DPCB, which released its findings yesterday, defaults in this age group grew from 5.07 per cent of payments due in January last year to 7.16 per cent by December that year.

And the same age group saw the steepest percentage increase in bad debts last year to a rate 130 per cent higher than the average rate for bad debts incurred across all age groups.

Credit card defaults were the most common type of default across all age groups.

Those between 21 and 29 years of age again led the pack, with a 7.54 per cent rate of defaults in this area. They were followed by the 30-year-olds to 39-year-olds at 3.97 per cent.
