HONG KONG 2010

WE ARE BACK!

We have never walked so much in our lives.. for these 4 days.. took MTR and walked through the various streets and attractions.
We're out at 830am back at 10pm cause our legs couldnt take it anymore..

We have less snacks but more proper food than in Taiwan.. we even followed this "recommended food list" which is really worth the find!

LOTS OF
PEOPLE EVERYWHERE
HIGH BUILDINGS (what is the pinnacle compared to theirs? the average height of their buildings are at least 30-40 storeys)
7-11
Taxis
No carparks
Lots of overhead bridges

And HONGKONG is CLEAN, you dont see litter on the streets, even though the streets seem worn out.
And majority of HONGKONG people are a good looking bunch, and they dress well, not like ours so skimpy in shorts and spag etc maybe its the good weather, even when its sunny they will wear presentably.

You must really be prepared to WALK ALOT given their traffic condition and luckily we have our map to navigate and we're on free and easy.. managed to explore even the non-tourist areas and had authentic hawker food

Shopping wise, we bought lots of clothes, from shopping malls though
HONGKONG's street fashion is not for me. with the leggings and the lace and the studs ..
AND I bought a new wallet and bag :D
my new AGNES B Wallet and BAG.. thanks dear for searching the boutiques with me
took me lots of consideration to get it

will sort the photos soon~

Snoopi's stayover and HONGKONG

As my parents weren't around, snoopi went to stay with dear..
BUT snoopi being so "sai nai" has been crying often.. so I had to go over to accompany him after work..but it also mean more time with dear too :)

So these few days, I have been shuttling from dear's place to work and back, taking the mrt.. maybe wednesday and thursday, I will have to leave snoopi alone at my own place ..cant trouble dear and his family too long..Snoopi cant be left alone in an unfamiliar place.. he will whine..alot.

its 3 more days to dim sum and seafood and lots of shopping!!
But first, we need to plan our itinerary hahaha..

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS on what to do or must buy there?
I have a rough guide only.. need to plan our route these few days already..
I cant wait!

dear's birthday is this THURSDAY.
Will be treating him to dinner and also celebrating in Hongkong :P

The start of my break

Last Friday went to check with the tour agency regarding our BKK trip.
Tried to re-route to Hongkong instead.. they said they have not recieve any confirmation email from the airline so could not change for us DESPITE us telling them that the airline website has the information to re-route.

Pissed off. As we are supposed to leave THIS FRIDAY.

Anyway, we went camping at East Coast over the weekend with snoopi too as my parents went TAIWAN with the youngest sis.

EVERY YEAR, we will celebrate Mother's Day but this year, mum's celebrating in TAIWAN lol.
Wanted to give her some money for her expenses but was rejected firmly by her.. made me feel kinda bad.

Anyway, we fished, camped and enjoyed nature over the weekends, we even braved the rough weather when it poured. LOL. Thank goodness our tent was sturdy and waterproof.

We literally roughed it out for our 81st mth anniversary hee
Spending quality time need not be all prim and proper and expensive.

From my previous trip with dear, I already bought 6 boxes of masks hahah
and some other stuff .. these all not all yet :P

I should

treat myself better.
And get what I deserve.

Tuesday, May 04, 2010

On my mind

are alot of things other than exams lol.

Dear and I have talked about our plans for the upcoming holidays~

We'll go fishing, camping, visit museums, Marina sands,ResortWorld, Hortpark, the various nature reserves etc
He'll go for his fishing trips with his kakis
I'll go for my friend's wedding in Jul.. and my first time being a JIE MEI!
and they have chosen the jie mei gown already~

and then i am worried about snoopi
parents wont be around to look after so need to find a babysitter for him in the day.
Usually mum's home, even when parents went Korea last year, youngest sis was home as she was having holidays..

Maybe I'll place him with dear since dear having holidays.. and I'll go over after work too

AND our BANGKOK trip, that is the headache part.. cannot cancel or postpone YET!!!
what the hell.. hopefully we can change to HONGKONG instead.

sigh.. the BANGKOK trip was suppose to be dear's birthday present from me..
oh well hopefully we can confirm our new destination soon and have fun nonetheless.

*****
And frequently, I have not much topics to talk about with my colleagues... their topics either about housing and wedding preparation.. and husbands and in-laws etc -_-

hopefully I can convert one colleague to like art and craft like me! hee
and then we can go out together.. without all the serious talk.. making my head big

For now, I would rather put my time and energy one thing at a time..
No point stressing myself up :)

And my career.. my work.. hopefully this year's Performance ranking will be good.
A pay raise will be the best. I hope.

One more..

One more paper to go before I am done with this sem and that leaves the LAST SEM TO GO!!
AND then I can move on to BIGGER achievements :P

Disappointed

with one of my assignment result zzz.
BUT oh well, it seems to be across the board.

And was mugging with dear in library last two days.
now must mug at home.

Had dinner with his friends for both days too lol and it was interesting to hear about wedding ceremony in India.. their friend said hers will be a 4 days affair with guests in the thousands.. O.O almost like a festival already!

And I miss the time together with dear already.
But today Public holiday.. need to spend some time with family.
Parents and Sis going Taiwan for 8 days! Soon the house will be so eerily quiet..and I dont like it.

AL Ameen Indian Food.
for dear and me, it was the first time trying Indian Vegetarian dishes.

Singapore can look forward to good year

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has declared this year a "good year", with Singapore emerging from the financial storm in a strong position.

In his May Day message, he urged Singaporeans to take the opportunity to push forward with improving productivity and transforming the economy.

Prime Minister Lee's optimism comes on the back of a revised growth forecast of 7 to 9 per cent for Singapore economy this year.

But he cautioned Singaporeans to see the remarkable performance in perspective.

The first-quarter growth of 13 per cent year on-year reflects the volatility of a small open economy.

And Mr Lee said some sectors like electronics and biomedical sciences expanded sharply but others had not done quite as well.

Prime Minister Lee believes that with everyone's concerted effort, Singapore can maintain its lead.

While firms push on with the productivity effort, workers need to improve and achieve greater mastery at their jobs.

Workers' upgrading is a marathon without a finish line, said Prime Minister Lee.

He noted that during the downturn last year, workers had taken the opportunity to upgrade their skills.

Mr Lee said this momentum must continue even as the economy has improved.

He noted that with the strong pickup, many companies are restoring the wage cuts while others are awarding bonuses and increments, depending on their improved performances.

He said these companies have remembered the sacrifices made by workers during the crisis.

These actions are strengthening the trust between workers and employers, said Prime Minister Lee.

He urged companies to work with unions to build up variable bonuses, and structure their wage systems to be more flexible over the longer term.

Mr Lee credited tripartism as a key competitive advantage in Singapore, and promised to continue to pay special attention to low-wage workers.

"Singapore has successfully tackled past challenges because of our strong tripartite partnership. Unions work with employers and the government to enlarge the pie so that all will have more to share," he said.

"Investors and businesses value highly our collaborative spirit, facing difficulties and solving problems together. Our track record of tripartism is a key competitive advantage that wins investments and brings in jobs for Singaporeans," added Mr Lee.

"Our union leaders understand what Singapore's prosperity, and our workers' well-being, depend upon. They know that there is no substitute for hard work, ingenuity and enterprise. They have done much to help workers understand the economic trends affecting them, and encourage them to go for retraining and upgrading," said Mr Lee.
