ION Orchard and Orchard Central

Sun 120709

Went Grandpa's place in the morning before meeting dear in Orchard around 2pm..
We basically walked up and down Orchard Road from 2+ to 7+ , from Taka to Orchard Central then back to TAKA and to ION then to Wheelock Place.

Saw MANY people carrying shopping bags.. and was grumbling to dear that though I walked into so many stores.. nothing caught my fancy =.=

Had lunch at MOS BURGER at Orchard Central, then bought a pair of pumps at TAKA.. cause my heels were literally killing my feet.. lots of cuts and blisters.. then headed to WHeelock Place for Pasta by Sakae.

I LUV~ the structure of the new ION! reminds me of a big concrete jungle.. with tree trunks and branches and canopy overhead. And I LUV~ the escalators and the view of ORCHARD CENTRAL, the never ending escalators and the different viewing platforms.. though the internal structure was messy to me.

Hmm dear had to hear my grumbling.. I am actually grumbling that I cant find anything to buy..

AND there were queues of people everywhere, queueing for those branded labels like Gucci, Chanel and LV.. and the likes.. now where's the recession? I do not think I will admire those things lol.
Hopefully never.

Savings rates..

Of DBS and POSB have became more "giam" tsk tsk

http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_397549.html
BAD news for the legions of savers already being squeezed by the meagre interest paid out on their deposits. Today, interest rates on the millions of savings accounts at both DBS Bank and POSB will be trimmed to levels not seen since 2005.

POSB savings and passbook account holders, who previously got 0.25 per cent for the first $50,000, will now get just 0.125 per cent. For those holding a deposit of $10,000, the decrease works out to $12.50 less a year.

Prior to Wednesday, DBS Savings Plus account holders got between 0.125 per cent for the first $3,000 and 0.175 per cent for the next $47,000. But now they will get only 0.1 per cent for the first $50,000.

From 2003 to 2005, DBS and POSB savings account-holders received about 0.125 per cent for the first $50,000. Those rates were later revised upwards.

A DBS spokesman said that the interest rates on deposit accounts, such as DBS Autosave, DBS Savings Plus, POSB Passbook and MySavings Account, will be adjusted from Wednesday. 'In line with market practice, we are informing our customers via notices at the branches, on ATM receipts and statements and on our website,' he added.

DBS and POSB are not the only ones reducing their rates to near zero. Over the last few months, many other banks - both foreign and local - have cut their payouts, some in lockstep, some one after another.

United Overseas Bank pays 0.125 per cent for the first $15,000 in savings, while OCBC Bank offers 0.125 per cent for the first $10,000. These rates were adjusted in early April, following a rate adjustment by DBS, a banker said.

The foreign players are also currently paying very little. Standard Chartered Bank's passbook savings account gives savers 0.125 per cent for an amount between $1,000 and $2,500.

Deposit rates are falling along with the rate that banks pay one another to borrow cash - the Singapore Interbank Offered Rate (Sibor). Sibor is a key influence on the rate that banks pay depositors and is hovering at 0.68 per cent, near the all-time low of 0.56 per cent in June 2003.

Another factor causing the low rates is that most Singapore banks do not need to attract deposits given that they are not looking to significantly expand their loan books during the downturn.

hmm.. maybe NOT saving in DBS was a "wiser" choice afterall...
Shall explore more options soon.. imagine.. $10 000 of my hard earned money "worth" $12.50 only -_-

Michael Jackson dies in LA hospital

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson's brother says it's believed that the pop star died of cardiac arrest.

Jermaine Jackson cautioned at a hospital press conference Thursday that the cause of his death would not be known until an autopsy was performed.

He said Michael Jackson's personal doctor and paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his rented home in Holmby Hills. A team of doctors at UCLA Medical Center also tried for more than an hour.

Los Angeles police Lt. Gregg Strenk said at a separate news conference that police robbery-homicide detectives have been ordered to investigate, which is common in a high-profile case. Strenk says the coroner's office, which will handle inquiries into the type of death, is taking possession of the body.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

GSS shopping round 2

went Jurong Point yesterday after work with my new colleague and we bought new jeans together.. and in addition, I bought a pair of faded denim shorts .. which costed more than my jeans zzz

after awhile..the brand of jeans doesnt matter to me anymore..
I've tried from LEE to LEVIS to Guess to New Future.. jeans still become loose after a yr..

and my Taiwan loots are coming lol...which costed around SGD$30 with shipping.. so much cheaper than buying in Singapore.
two vests.. just good for accessorizing my numerous tshirts.

Went Daiso to buy charcoal grill too lol hopefully this weekend we can go outdoors for mini bbq.
Cant wait to bring Snoopi to the dog carnival..

Dear came back with me after that.
That was so sweet and brave. Dear knows what it means.
and then.. maybe I was too righteous during those conversations with dear..

And, I put on weight lar.. sobs. Must resolve to lose the flab!!
*****
thinking.. should i get another doggie? imagine.. 2 Snoopis LOL.

My Tarot Card reading - Death/Rebirth

Briefly: The slate will be wiped clean for a fresh start. There will be none of the old left, so a whole new approach needs to be established before true renewal can take place. Sometimes when we draw this card, major events seems to unfold around us that challenge our thinking and our direction in life.

Full Meaning: This shows a grim reaper and a white rose at the same time. The Sun is setting in the background of the card, indicating the end of daylight hours. This is the card of endings, renewal and transformation of the highest order. Sometimes an unpleasant event shows us the way to a new path. This may seem traumatic at the time, but it is also saying that the old ways are no longer valid, or of value in your new life. It is time to cast aside whatever is hindering your progress in life and make a whole new start. Turn the leaf, sow new seeds, wear new clothes, change your appearance, move house, leave that boring job and get out there and dance. Life can end at any moment for any of us, so it is how wisely we spend our time here that really matters. You can still be serious about some aspects of your life, but leave plenty of room open for fun and for spontaneity.

sounds good eh? lol
