some buys

online these few weeks, most are for my sis lol
due to the good USD rate, i only paid 6.95USD(SGD10)for a shirt lol
but on a cautious note, my lecturer speculated that the economy will crash, soon, maybe by end of this year.. so better hold onto your job.. and your money..
now i am thinking whether to cash out/stop my investments or not.

My love birds

My blue bag 199NT(10SGD), to go with my blue bling bling slippers lol

bought this for the xiao mei

Panic Alert

Although I have done the individual assignment, found the relevant literature weeks ago and even did a few drafts, I am still not satisfied with the outcome.
I kept finding faults with it, thinking whether did I write out of point, whether my structure is correct and whether my referencing is correct.
I am worrying myself.

And its due tomorrow.

Shopping and BBQ

Sat 0208
As usual, woke up around 730am and after the papers, started grooming Snoopi which has been a weekly routine for me. Brushed his teeth, cut nails, trim fur etc then bathe him and tried cutting out the matted balls of fur -_-".

Went off at 1130 to fetch dear from school and we took at bus to IMM for lunch and also to find pressies for each other. Dear bought my memory stick while I bought him FOX bermudas which he chose himself cause I was worried if I bought it first, it might not fit well. We also went Daiso and bought some stationary and a new rope toy for Snoopi. After that went Lot 1 at chua chu kang to have coffee and we waited for time to pass as we were going for BBQ~

It was fun! We helped in preparation and also bbqing the food. I love standing at the pit to flip the food, it gives me a sense of satisfaction. :P Met a new gal there, Yi Xiang's gf, Xaiver and we talked and got along quite well. Met the rest of dear's classmates too and we talked and ate and then updated each other. Another of dear's friend had just proposed and he talked about his proposal and also his search for a wedding venue and he actually said he was prepared for 15K loss WAH. And the usual question of "when are you getting married?" will always surface in some conversations. To me its not a matter of "how long you have been together" but "how prepared and ready you are" for the finances part, for the commitment part etc and also how to share responsibilities part which the wife of another of dear's friend agreed too. Then it was the discussion of school and work schedules, I realised almost ALL the people there who were present are studying, either full or part time which is a good thing, then i have more kakis and we can encourage one another. Then it was back home after a tiring day out.

Sun 0308
Went Jurong Lake with dear and mummy. We walked for 3 hours to and fro! Early morning exercise and mini picnic session. Its good to walk around and breath in some fresh air better than keep sitting in front of com, I have been gathering enough fats for the whole workweek when I was in the office lol.
I aim to tone myself again zzz as when I weighed yesterday at OSim shop, the scale showed 50, kinda disappointing. I want a smaller waist!

after the walk, snoopi slept on the chair as mum had to mop the floor lol

and me in Miss Giggles shirt

and it's 5 more days to 080808

i HATE

Inconsiderate drivers!
today I waited half an hr in front of the sch bus-stop after class cause the buses couldnt move.
WHY?
because ALOT of cars were parked along the road, that I cant argue BUT alot of cars were parked in THE BUS LANE TOO!I know they are eager to pick their gfs/wives whatever or they want the whole bus-stop of ppl to ADMIRE their cars, the whole world beside them need to get home by PUBLIC BUSES. Since driving already, why cant they pick their passengers up just further down the road or across the road where there's less traffic? That tedious to walk meh?
ARGH.

Sat will be fetching dear from school and going IMM to find his pressie then later at night to his classmate's place for bbq.

Sun will need to REDO my individual assignment. i think i got the structure all wrong and i exceeded word count by 300 words?

tests will be coming soon, on 14 and 20 aug zzz
woh, time pass fast when u are busy.

Singapore's unemployment rate rises to 2.3% in Q2

SINGAPORE: Singapore's unemployment rate rose to 2.3 per cent in the second quarter after seasonal adjustments amid economic uncertainties, according to estimates from the Ministry of Manpower.

For the second consecutive quarter, the overall jobless rate climbed from a seasonally adjusted 1.7 per cent in December to 2.0 per cent in March and further to 2.3 per cent in June. There were also fewer jobs in the period from April to June.

Employment grew by 70,600 in the second quarter, slightly lower than the increase of 73,200 in the preceding quarter but higher than the 64,400 from the same period a year ago.

The rise on-year was driven by robust expansion in building activities, and employment in the construction sector grew by a record 22,100 in the April to June period.

Services were hard hit; the number of new jobs created went down from 46,500 to 37,600 workers in the second quarter.

The manufacturing sector posted gains of 10,200, down from the increase of 11,800 in the first quarter.

Retrenchments have eased to the same level as a year ago, after rising for two consecutive quarters. 1,900 workers were retrenched in Q2, 374 fewer compared with the first quarter.

"From the ground, we sense that there still may be more restructuring. So the overall retrenchment figure for this year may still be slightly higher than last year. Nonetheless, we are happy to note (the) good employment rate,... so there's lesser worry for workers," said Chiam Hui Fong, Industrial Relations Department, NTUC.

Some 77,800 Singapore residents were unemployed as of as of June. The seasonally adjusted figure was 60,900.

The government has warned that Singapore is facing a triple whammy of economic threats, in the form of surging inflation, slower-than-expected growth and weaker exports.
To protect against retrenchments, the labour movement has reiterated the need for training and skills upgrading, so that workers can easily find themselves another job if they are laid off.

more bad news.. need to "tighten" belt and stay put or SWITCH ASAP already

I waited for 7 buses before i could finally get up at the clementi station to school zzzz and in the end was late by half an hour..

what's the SBS doing? they should know there will be INFLUX of people taking those particular buses at this time, should have done something like NTU, the 179A service which is direct to and fro the interchange and NTU.

On a happier note, these are my buys for these few weeks lol so happy ah though the new shoes still cut me, badly.

with bling bling lol, now i can taller beside dear

I like the LOUD colours

and I have wrapped 2 of dear's pressies, going shopping with him this sat to get another of his pressie lol

some juicy news

wow. about her 50 boyfriends, she claimed, "its all part of growing up"
and can date 5 guys at one time
and though she claimed she's not a virgin but she never had sex with all of them.
wow. and what kind of image does the pageant wants to portray to others about such contestant?
not exactly wow, I have heard of people "having relationships for fun" when they were younger
not to this extent though.
BUT would you accept someone who had so many partners before? What will your limit be?

Red Cliff

Sat
This week had been a busy week and we could only manange to meet up on sat. Both had been busy with studies and projects. I Went to fetch dear from school and off we went to watch RED CLIFF! We did not manage to watch last week so I booked the tickets on Thursday for Sat's show hahah, not surprisingly when I checked the seats, the last four rows were already taken up. And when I went to collect the tickets at the box office, it was full house that day all the way till the late night shows hahah so its always good to be prepared.

Took the bus there and it was really warm and humid and there were so many students in the bus as it was along bukit timah route to orchard whereby various schools are lined at the side. Dear commented that I lost weight. I like to hear that though I know it aint healthy. Mum even said I am malnourished not that I dont eat, food at the workplace doesnt entice my appetite. She bought a tupperware set for me to let me bring food to workplace. So sweet of mum.

The show did not disappoint! Beside the blood and gore and also brotherhood, its interesting to know the story of "romance of 3 kingdoms". The show makes me want to read up more indept into it.

Dinner was at Beach Road for duck rice~ succulent duck meat with generous serving of gravy and also the side dishes were appetising too. We had salted veg, pig's ears and braised egg and beancurb. The pig's ears are really good, chewy and flavourful. Its good for your cartillage too~

Sun

Brought Snoopi out for a walk with mum and sis and we walked along the canal and the exercise park. We tried to get Snoopi to exercise too LOL but I think he has a little trouble with balancing.

Now its in the afternoon and I'm still doing my essay.
1/4 more to go! lol
Did parts of it on fri, sat morning and left another quarter before i can do the finishing touches to it.
Its not that frightening afterall for a 1000 word essay >< I'm already 900+ with a quarter left to go tsk tsk need SERIOUS editing.

My new tupperware set lol comes with matching water bottle, from dear mum

From a colleague~ Muah Chi from taiwan.. I miss taiwan food

At Beach Road

Braised egg, beancurd, salted veg and pig's ears, dont snort on it, the pig's ear is really chewy and its nutritious woh, good for your cartilage.

Swing swing!

Trying to balance lol

some discussions

Bf Material Vs Husband Material, what's the difference?
"mentioned that there's a difference when it comes to looking for a husband compared with looking for a boyfriend.... so wat exactly is the difference? i always tot that husband material means bf material plus commitment and financial stability?"

To me there's a difference, when still dating, not as much responsibilites, no fixed liabilities still can carry out acts individually etc
When married, the wife is "inclusive" in all matters relating to both of them and the wife becomes a source of "liability/support" depending of how she decide to relate to the husband

Status Equality, Education level, Family background, Income earned and etc.
(for BOTH guys/gals)
"Does status equality still matter today u feel? As in, what if your SO's academic qualifications is lower than yours and is earning lesser than u. Will you mind if your SO is not as well-off as you? Any of you seen/heard or experienced personally, parents objecting to a r/s becos "he/she is not good enough" for you."

What do you say?

Internet, alcohol and sleep tied to girls' weight

July 24, 2008

NEW YORK - GIRLS and young women who devote much time to the Internet, get too little sleep or regularly drink alcohol are more likely than their peers to put on excess weight, a new study suggests.
The researchers, who followed more than 5,000 girls between 14 and 21 years old for 1 year, found that the more spare time girls spent on the Internet, the more their body mass index (BMI) increased.

Similar patterns were seen when the researchers looked at alcohol consumption and sleep. In the latter case, lack of sleep was linked to greater gains in BMI - a measure of weight in relation to height.

The findings, reported in The Journal of Pediatrics, add to evidence implicating each of these three habits in promoting weight gain.

The effect of each may be small, but over time the pounds can add up, according to the researchers, led by Dr Catherine S. Berkey of Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston.

The study involved 5,036 girls and young women who were surveyed regarding the number of recreational hours per week they spent on the Internet, which ranged from 1 to 5 hours, to 16-plus hours, as well as how long they typically slept each night (anywhere from 5 hours or less, to 9 hours or more) and how much alcohol they usually drank (ranging from none to two or more drinks per week).

In general, the researchers found, as Internet use climbed, so did BMI, particularly among girls younger than 18 years old.

When it came to sleep, those who clocked 5 hours or less tended to gain more weight than those who got a standard 8 hours. And girls and women who had 2 or more alcoholic drinks per week put on more pounds than those who drank the least.

The effects over 1 year were modest, Dr Berkey's team points out. For example, a 19-year-old of average weight and height would gain 4 pounds if she were in the high-risk groups for Internet use, sleep and alcohol consumption.

However, the researchers add, over time that could translate into significant weight change.

Spending hours on the Internet likely contributes to weight gain by taking time away from physical activity, according to Dr Berkey's team.

Lack of sleep may make people too tired to be active during the day; sleep deprivation also affects hormones and metabolism in a way that might promote weight gain.

Meanwhile, alcohol contains a significant amount of calories, and research suggests that people usually don't make an adjustment for liquid calories by eating or drinking less throughout the rest of the day. -- REUTERS

tempted to get an eco bag lol like those recyclable tote that you can buy from supermarkets, eco-friendly and practical.

*******

on another note, while i was queueing up for the bus last night after class, heard a group of girls(i assumed that they are full time students as they were in sports gear)commenting loudly

"so late already dunno why still so many people" and they grumbled and grumbled throughout, even on the bus. and they were a VERY NOISY BUNCH too.

well well

not everyone has such "luxury" as them.
period.

Sat
Had classes from 230-530 and before that i met up with my groupmates in school for lunch and had alittle discussion.
AND i did a very silly thing.
I forgot the bus 502 does not stop at clementi anymore and i took 502 all the way to orchard -_- before I took cab from orchard back to school for fear of being too late for the group discussion, it's not very nice to let others wait.

Dear came to fetch me after classes and we went to PS for HELLBOY~ its was good! action packed and a more humane side to hellboy heh
I saw the trailer for The mummy and the dragon emperor and also the RED CLIFF.
We wanted to watch RED CLIFF intially but the shows were all sold out when we checked the booking in the morning.
I MUST catch it next time.
Dinner was a Carl's Junior as everywhere was so packed.

Sun
Morning had Mac breakfast with dear's family then we went to Bedok reservoir to try Fly fishing and also to test dear's new lures. I read my papers too while dear was having fun lol.
It was so relaxing and peaceful and I hid under the shade to read and also to watch dear.

Dear promised that once he gets his licence we will go explore the various parks/fishing spots in Singapore lol. I am so eagerly waiting for that. BUT I wont really encourage dear to drive to Town. Its such a killer. The petrol, jams, ERP and also parking fees are exorbitant and since town is so accessible, its kinda "not worth it" to drive to town. BUT parks and other eating places are harder to reach so having a private transport will be much more advantageous.
To me that is.

We went head to Kallang for JALAN SULTAN Prawn Noodle.
*slurps*
Dear satisfied the greedy me heh.
Reached home in the afternoon and went Grandpa's place in the evening and I had fishhead curry with family for dinner. :)

I cut my fringe shorter and had a new parting too, now always need to keep sweeping to the side, my classmates said it looked better though :)

So how's it?can pass for what age? :P

kingfisher!

clear waters.. i can see the fishes woh

Jalan Sultan prawn noodles

and I got a earful from dear when I told him about my hair package.. but then its for a few sessions and I promised not to spend too much on aesthetic stuff.. eh maybe find cheaper varieties though like my 1US eyeshadows! lol
I also know I'm a naggy gf and I complain/critize easily..but its all at the spur of moment and I dont mean anything for most of the stuff
Na.. I know You dote on me :)

oh and sad to say, I have class on our 5th yr anni and also group discussions on the day after tsk tsk ..had to postpone our celebration. sigh

Pressie pressie! need to think for dear asap already

Caught in the act!

what I saw from the bed

*********
on another note, i received my new eyeshadows already
so far, its quality and its colour are the best for me, its mineral makeup btw
and the colours doesnt slide or gets smudged on my oily eyelids!

and best of it
its only 1USD each for a 5g jar

Before the Bonus is in

I already spent part of it.

Had a haircut, treatment and alittle massage, and it made me feel so good though poorer.
Signed a treatment package too.
To make myself more motivated to maintain myself, cannot lose out to those young 20s in school ah LOL

So my hopes of getting a new phone/camera is temporary put on hold.
Till the next Bonus comes in.

I am already aiming for this model .. next time
any reviews on it?

Sony Ericsson C902 Cyber-shot 5 mega pix!

Thursday night

dear came over to find me after his lessons but the poor boy is sick, suffering from flu which made him feel alittle groggy and distracted.

thanks for the efforts dear though can see you were really tired and had to sleep early.

**********
anyway I know I am being biased again.

I cant help but to NOT feel a sense of belonging to the school I am having night lessons in.
Its just a school, nothing more to me.
Not particular proud of it nor do I condemn it.
Maybe I do not spend enough time in the school.
Its a mad rush to get there on time and a relief to leave on time too.
I envy the full time students, they can have so much time, fun and recreational activities in there.
Silly me.
However I like and am glad of the people in my own class, with common goals and also common frustrations and we motivate each other along.
In the end, its the individual and the lecturers and not the school that matter.

I think its just me.
I have worked so long in my current workplace that I might have too high an expectation.
I should/must change my mindset soon.

Ganbatte!
No matter how good the school is, if I Dont work hard, the result will still be undesirable.

Debates

How Many Girls Here Are Not Materialistic And Matured In Thinking?
http://www.flowerpod.com.sg/forums/index.php?showtopic=68601&st=0

I can think of

-Define being materialistic
-Define being matured
-Define the extend
-Money is not everything YET everything is money
-Traditional gender roles vs modern gender roles

and I believe in working for materials/money beside other intangible aspects.
Most of us are working for something, aint you?
or maybe they haven heard of such things as BILLS?

Grouping

just divided ourselves into groups by drawing lots.
Sis and I were seperated.
We preferred it to be that way too.

For me, I do not like working with people I know really well, eg family or bf for work-related/study-related stuff lest we have conflicts and let it affect our relations AND it might also be kind of a distraction.
An obvious hint that I can never work in family business. I want everything to be clear.

Currently at week3.
Individual's assignment due week6.
Group's assignment due week10.
lessons 4 times a week including sat.
Reached home around 1145 last night.
Meetup this sat before class for group briefing.
Reading up journals now
and i thought i do not need to read journals after researching for my FYP's scientific references.

Hectic.
