But after a week, my hopes seemed dashed.
Time to move on and try harder!
**********************
There's hope!
I envy those couples who stay near to each other.. I know some couples meet almost EVERYDAY, from schooling life to working life ..
For us, we WORK FAR away, STAY FAR away from each other (each at the end of EAST-WEST).. so usually can only meet weekends..
But I know for us, we can have our own space, meet own friends etc
THOUGH I thought I should be used to it by now.. I still misses him
I am always waiting for my weekends to be with him.
Distance and Time will not be a barrier, it will only make US STRONGER!
we have survived various periods of absence, distance over the last 7+ years.
we will make it through!

Flat and Maths
Despite growing public perception that the prices of new HDB flats are becoming exorbitant for first-time home buyers, PAP Housing Minister is adamant that they are still ‘affordable’ to the majority of Singaporeans.
He also lavished generous self-praise on the PAP regime’s efforts to keep housing ‘affordable’ to young couples.
“Most buyers of new flats need to fork out little or no cash to pay for their homes. Eight in 10 couples who bought new flats last year used only a quarter or less of their salaries to service their home loans, which means their Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions can cover almost all their monthly mortgage payments,” he proclaimed at a press conference at Tampines East Community Club.
Though buyers of new flats may fork out little cash, most have to take up thirty year bank loans to finance their HDB flats.
While the median income of an average Singapore worker has remained stagnant at $2,500 monthly, the prices of HDB flats have almost doubled since 2006.
“With all this in place, you would get a flat with zero deposit. Now how many housing ministers in the world can say what I’ve just said?’ On top of that, a new HDB flat is not ‘any ordinary, low-quality flat’, but ‘a good-quality flat, a flat in a good environment”,added Mr Mah.
Mr Mah forgot to add that HDB flats are merely 99-year leasehold flats owned ultimately by the PAP regime and that buyers are merely ‘leasing’ them from HDB for a period of 99 years.
On the issue of Singapore PRs being responsible for jacking up the prices of HDB flats, Mr Mah insisted that their impact is ‘small’ though PRs make up some 40 percent of the buyers in the resale market, according to some housing agencies.
PAP strongman Lee Kuan Yew announced lately that Singapore still needs 900,000 foreign workers on work permits and the number does not include those on S and E passes who are potential Singapore PRs and citizens in the making.

I just did alittle maths with the help of financial calculators found in HDB website, assuming flats nowadays cost 350K for a 4 room(ave)
assuming no AHG (capped at 5K combined income)
deduct 50K from Ordinary CPF (ave)
=300K(payable over 30yrs)
=around 1.2K/mth for CPF installment
=>5K/mth combined pay needed
so it means bf and I need to earn >2.5k/mth EACH to afford a midlevel flat in a non-matured estate comfortably WITHOUT using cash at all to pay for the housing installment

For Eternity
Some people believe that each stone symbolizes something about their relationship. Come up with something romantic that each stone represents when you give the eternity ring. One could be for the day you met. The next can represent your first kiss. One diamond can represent you falling in love. One can be for your wedding day. The next one or more can represent each of your children. If you do not have children yet, or if you just want to make a statement about your life ahead, you can leave some stones to represent your future that has not happened yet. Then, as you make your memories together you can name the next stone to symbolize its importance to you as a couple.
Eternity rings make great gifts for many occasions. The birth of a child can really spark a flood of new emotions and mark a special time in a couple's life. An eternity ring can represent this new life that you are embarking on together. Eternity rings make very beautiful wedding bands. Eternity rings compliment almost every engagement ring. The timeless beauty and simplicity of the eternity ring will ensure that you never grow tired of the style of your eternity ring. The sparkle and beauty of an eternity ring far surpasses that of traditional wedding bands.
There are two types of eternity rings to choose from. Full eternity rings have diamonds (or other stones) that go all the way around. These are very beautiful rings with the maximum amount of sparkle. They sometimes cost a little more than half eternity rings because they have to be custom fitted. You can not buy a full eternity ring and have it sized later, because of the stones going all the way around. Some people prefer the full eternity rings because they symbolize the eternal circle of love that they have for the recipient.
Half eternity rings have the stones only on top of the ring. Having exposed precious metal on the bottom of the ring makes it possible to have it sized. Another benefit of the half eternity ring is that you can put bigger stones in it. This makes for a more dazzling display of diamonds (or other stones). Some believe that half eternity rings are slightly more comfortable, but jewelers keep comfort in mind when designing both types of eternity rings, so feel free to pick the one that you are drawn to. Keep all of these things in mind when selecting the eternity ring that is right for your special someone. You are sure to have a special moment in the giving of your eternity ring, followed by a lifetime of love and memories.

Blackie Chen and Christine Fan
After almost 11 years of courtship, Taiwan's celeb couple Blackie Chen and Christine Fan will wed on May 7 at W Hotel in Taipei.
A few days ago, Christine took her wedding photos in a specially-designed lacey bridal gown, which was studded with crystals.
The designing of the dress took half a year and was created by Christine's good friend and celeb Jia Yongjie and designer Huang Shu Chi. Christine's bridal gown reportedly cost NT$600,000 (approximately S$26,000).
When the groom-to-be saw his bride, Blackie gushed, "[She] looks like a vintage doll. [She's] really pretty and she's finally mine."
During the photo-taking session, the couple flirted openly with each other. Christine complained that Blackie acted so much like a comedian, which caused her to break into peals of laughter.
"I kept whispering 'I love you' to her, because my love for her is so much. If I don't say it, I'm afraid I'll drown [in my love for her]," Blackie explained.
In other related news, the couple's wedding invitation card was also revealed. The couple is looking at ways to send the big card which measures 33cm in length, to friends and relatives.
"The wedding invitation uses a cross design, which symbolises our religion. The plus sign represents 'home'. We wanted to choose black and white as the main colour theme, but are worried that the elders would not like it," Christine let on.
She added that the scripture "printed on the invitation is the same one my mother forced Blackie to read aloud when he first came to our house".
The couple expressed that they will learn from good friend Barbie Hsu's experience and hope that friends, relatives and media who are attending the wedding will have a good time. Christine also apologised for any inadequacy in advance.

HIS proposal
Jobs closer to home, more housing near MRT stations
This can take place in the next decade and beyond, and are higher-rise housing of more than 30 storeys. He was speaking at the URA Corporate Plan Seminar on Thursday, at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.
The Minister mentioned in his speech that '2011 will be the year of the Concept Plan,' under a 'new phase of planning for Singapore's physical transformation.'
Mr Mah said the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) has decided on a 6.5 million population figure as a planning assumption for the concept plan, though this figure, he added, is not a population target.
Another important issue addressed during the Minister's speech was the plan to bring jobs closer to homes. This will be achieved by building more housing in the Central and West regions, where there are proportionately more jobs than homes. More commercial and industrial activities will also be planned for the North and North-East, where there are currently more homes than jobs.
This redistribution of housing and jobs will hopefully ease peak hour traffic flowing in the North-South direction towards the city, said the Minister.

5 Things Happy People Do
1. They find their most golden self.
"The positive emotion accompanying thoughts that are directed toward meaningful goals is one of the most enduring components of well-being."
2. They design their lives to bring in joy.
"people don't devote enough time to thinking seriously about how they spend their life and how much of it they actually enjoy,"
3. They avoid "if only" fantasies
Happy people are wise to this, which is why they keep their lives full of novelty, even if it's just trying a new activity (diving, yoga) or putting a new spin on an old favorite (kundalini instead of vinyasa).
4. They put best friends first
social engagement is one of the most important contributors to happiness.
5. They allow themselves to be happy.
