Jia you to all!

Difference in school fees

was talkin to a colleague about our school fees, mine from RMIT, hers from UNISIM.

UNISIM's BIZ course fees will be around 15+K in total and my BIZ deg will cost 20+k in total

Her core module cost around 600+each and unicore (elective) cost 300+ each.
so each sem around 2k+ (4core) and more depending on how many unicore you want to take.
All these are AFTER gov 40% subsidy, which leads to around 10K in savings.

mine will be 1.3k each module, fixed and you can take 3 modules per sem which is 3.9+
each sem last 4-5mths but there's installment plans to pay school fees.

UNISIM is at least 3yrs, mine is 2.5yrs (with no exemption)

Sometimes

there's no perfect solution for anything , "no pain no gain"
sacrifices have to be made.

*********
my students called last night at 9+ to inform me there's a loud alarm rining in my room.. made us all panic.. then realised its all a false alarm.

*********
Dear and I were talking last night and he mentioned that in order to raise a family with kids, estimated income per couple will be around 8-10K. So that means around 3-5K for each of us.

Hope we can reach that target!!
The reason why we are all upgrading.

Can I just

WTF?

http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sgseen/this_urban_jungle/338964/spore_girl_wants_to_make_her_first_1m__10_cents_at_a_time.html

This local girl aims to make a million bucks in just a year. Her plan? Get people -10,000,000 of them - to each give her ten cents. The 21-year-old blithely says she has no occupation because she 'doesn't want to work'.

The girl, nicknamed 'hollyho1989', does not appear to offer anything in exchange for the money. According to a poster sent by STOMPer Joshii, the girl simply hopes people will be 'nice' and give her the money.

She even provides her bank account number so that people can transfer the money to her.

STOMP followed the link on the poster and found that her account was started just a week ago. Thus far she has not uploaded any videos and she has no recent activity on her account.

I just

Applied 4 days of Exam Leave
and 5 days Annual Leave for my upcoming Exams.

Wish me all the best!

The Perils

Of being a Part-Time student.

Its hard to meet up for group projects, not that I am feeling sour about it.
Some of my group members do not really have as much time, especially on weekdays..
Not everyone can leave "on time" as I do..and I already left at 630 for most days last week.

However...

Over the past week, as no one seems or wants to get the group going, I thought I should start the ball rolling by sending emails..
No one replied.. maybe I should add a "do reply" at the end.
Sent second email, no responded too.

Wanted to meet and discuss during lessons, saw one out of 4 other members on different days of lesson only..
Wanted to meet today, thought I finally have 2 more members, one said cannot make it this mornin, thus left 2 of us, and that becomes kinda redundant to meet.

Till now, no draft, no structure, I am worried.
I have to seek others' opinions first, but the others always tell me, "tell them what to do after discussion".
Problem is, I dont even have the chance to get at least 2 more members to discuss.

Hopefully, this is just me being paranoid.

I wonder

When will I ever get what I want. I have so many things on my mind I have yet to accomplish.
SO many barriers..

But then again, I am not the worst off.
JUst that I am not progressing as fast as I expect to.
And I hate it when things do not meet my expectations.

I know, it's part and parcel of life but its goddamn frustrating.
I just have to deal with it.

Jia you!

*******

Just filed income tax and I dont see as much pay as the form stated..zzz
Most of it went to school fees. damn.
I think I paid 20K in CASH ..*heart pains*
Imagine what I can do with it.. BUT its ok, I always tell myself.
All for the better future!

An article

from today's Straits Times. Just came home, read this after my bath.

Study finds part-time mums have healthier kids

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/health/view/1041235/1/.html

SYDNEY: Mothers who work part-time are more likely to have healthier children than those who work full-time or who are not in the workforce, the author of an Australian study said Wednesday.

Children whose mothers worked part-time watched about an hour less television per week and had a healthier lifestyle, Jan Nicholson of Melbourne's Murdoch Childrens Research Institute said.

"The main finding that we have is that the children of mothers who worked part-time were healthier in their weight and that was related to watching less television, snacking less and being more physically active," she told AFP.

"And that was compared to children whose mothers were in full-time employment and also those whose mothers were at home full time."

The research, contained in the paper "Do working mothers raise couch potato kids?" examined the weight and lifestyle of some 2,500 children when they were four or five and again when they were six or seven.

The paper, published in the Journal of Social Science and Medicine, revealed that between 18 and 20 per cent of children were obese or overweight.

Associate professor Nicholson said the research was designed to add to the debate about whether the west's childhood obesity epidemic was linked to mothers' increased participation in the workforce.

"And I guess what we are really doing is trying to see is, after we take account of everything else that we know is going on, is there really a relationship here? And the answer is, yes, there is."

The study, conducted with the University of New England and the Australian National University, said mothers with full-time careers may have less time to encourage physically active play or prepare home-cooked meals.

Nicholson said the study could not explain why stay-at-home mums were more likely to have overweight children but she said mothers who worked part-time might be better able to balance their work and family demands.

"They reschedule activities, sleep less and allocate less time to personal care and leisure to ensure that time with children is protected," she said.

*********
NOT just applying to the children but mothers themselves.
After my mum worked part time, she lost weight, temper became better, became very sociable too! and also very talkative haha

My mum is more sociable than me ah, with her morning pilates class, dance class and even goes mountain climbing on weekends -_-
and her frequent malaysian trips with the aunties LOL
And she still pack the house, cook meals and goes work at night.
My super mum :P

And she will "drag" my dad along to CC events hahah
this is what i call, active ageing heh heh

I wish next time I can have such free time too~

What successful men want

as said by someone who has worked with them, from the corporate world, banking side

3 main traits they want their women to have:
  • Intelligent
so the men can bring out out to socialise and can strike proper conversations
  • Domestic
can cook and take care of house
  • Can "reproduce"
the buzz is having twins, not just boys

*********
now I wonder, what do successful women want instead.

Is Your Marriage Good Enough?

just for info :)
http://lifestyle.msn.com/relationships/articleoprah.aspx?cp-documentid=23577452&GT1=32023

Is Your Marriage Good Enough?
Are you expecting too much? Are you just "settling"? Author Ginger Tobias asks 10 pointed questions about the state of your union.

1. Are you exaggerating the negatives? For the next two months mark the good and bad days on your calendar to get a reality check.

2. Have you already left the marriage by emotionally withdrawing? Or by giving up all attempts to make the relationship better? If so, can you find a way to reengage?

3. Do you get so angry that you hit each other or throw things at least once a month? If the answer is yes, are you hanging on to a terrible relationship because you're afraid of being alone? Or because you're convinced it's the best you can do?

4. If you're frustrated because your husband won't change (you'd like him to be more forceful or manly, for example), is it really necessary that he does? Is there anything in your family history that may be driving your need to transform him? (For example, perhaps your father never stood up for you when you needed him to do so.)

5. Have you been teaching your husband the wrong lessons by not challenging his hurtful behavior? (You don't say anything when he criticizes you in public. He never washes the dishes, so you just do them, resentfully.)

6. Do you have fun together? Even when things are tough, do you make jokes about it? (A good sign.) If not, can you make time in your marriage for more play?

7. Are there conflicts that you've avoided in the relationship? What do you fear would happen if you confronted them?

8. Do you simply need more time alone? A weekend on your own every so often to make the heart grow fonder?

9. Has something occurred — a death, a big birthday, a job loss — that's throwing off your relationship and needs to be addressed?

10. Have you done everything you possibly can to make this marriage work? Are you certain he has heard your complaints? Have you tried a marriage-education class or couples therapy? If he won't go to counseling, have you gone yourself to see how you might save the relationship?
